Snowflake Flower Tutorial with Sandi C

Good morning, scrappers! Sandi C here today with an easy-peasy flower tutorial. This one uses your basic steps of layering together a flower but with the layer being a "snowflake" rather than your typical flower shape.  So for this one, you could use a snowflake punch or use a Die Cutting machine.

Here you can see that I've cut some of the white BoBunny double dot using my Cricut Imagine and my Home Accents cartridge.  I did a variety of sizes starting at 2.5 inches going down to 1.5 inches.  There are tons of snowflake images out there. Just think of all the possibilities for flower making!

Next I did the same thing using one of the blue patterns.

I spritzed the white flakes with some Smooch spray that I had on hand.  In addition to glimmer, that makes them softer and easier to manipulate.

I rolled the "petals" using the end of a fine tip paintbrush.

Then using a round implement such as the cap of a gel pen, I cupped them by placing them in the palm of my hand and pressing downward. You can see the results in the photo below.  You can also accomplish this by placing your flower on a cushy foam surface such as a mouse pad. I just like using the palm of my hand so that I can cup it a bit more.

I then did the same thing with the other color of snowflakes.

Then I started assembling the flower, alternating the layers in color and making sure that the "petals" were rotated rather that being exactly lined up on top of one another. Kaitlyn sent some stamens along with the kit and I've used them here for the center of my flower.

Do you use Puffy paint? I sure do! Not often .. but it does add some character to your flowers. Be sure to let it get almost dry before you use your heat gun to puff up the paint. This first photo shows the flower before using the heat gun ...

and this one shows the flower after using the heat to make the paint puff up. Remember to wait for it to get almost dry first! You can see my butterfly in the photo .. just ignore that .. I took my photo after placing him on my page. =)

Finally, here is how the snowflake flower looks on my layout.

Well, I hope you had fun reading my short tutorial. Can't wait to see what you create! Be sure you post them in the gallery so that I can oooooh and aaaaaah over them!

Thanks for coming by!
