Hi There, Jenifer here today posting for ScrapThat!
I hope you are all enjoying your warm summer days!
I have a simple tutorial on how to alter the Petaloo Flowers that came in
ScrapThat!'s July Kit
"Summer In My Garden"
It's super easy and quick!!

But first I wanted to share a few tips I came up with using the Kit:
* When removing your resin window pieces...do so with caution...I learned this the hard way a long time ago
* I wanted to use my window on 2 different projects more like shutters, so I used a dremel to cut it in half!
* I took the tan buttons off the white fowers and replaced them with the white rose buds in the kit
* I used Helen's tip from last month and snipped the Zva flowers in half to make them go further
SUPPLIES

**Flowers
**left over coffee in some sort of shallow dish
** blow dryer
**napkin

I wanted to show you a quick before of the flower I am going to alter. It's yellowish in the center and a bit flat, but I am going to change this so it matches my layout I want to use it on.

STEP 1:
Simply dip your flower into the old coffe, wetting it completely. Be sure to GENTLY sqeeze out the excess liquid. These flowers become more delicate when they are wet, so handle with care so you do not tear them during this process. You may choose to let it set on a napkin for a few minutes once you've sqeezed it out to let the napkin absorb some more of the dampness. Thesen suckers can take a while to dry since they are made of mulberry and tend to hold alot of liquid.

STEP 2:
Once your flower has set to dry for a few minutes you are ready to speed up the process while giving the flower it's new shape. Remember in the "before photo" above how the flower was a bit flat? Well now we want to give it more dimension, by simply scrunching and rolling it around between your fingers while drying it with a blow dryer. There dryer will get hot if you keep it in one place you you will need to move it around as you go and it will take a little bit to get it completely dried, but trust me the results are so worth the effort!

Once your flower is completely dry and you are happy with it's new shape, it's ready to use!!!
The tan flower below is a close up of my after once I altered it with the coffee!! You may notice that mine has a bit of white on it too, thats because I used a few dabs of white acrylic paint here and there ll over my layout!!!

My finish results!!!

I hope you loved my tutorial and found it useful!

Build a Page Tutorial by Keren

I'm here again to show you, as promised, how I made this layout.

1. First take the purple-pink  paper and cut a 7 inch circle right in the middle of the paper
(I apologize about the differences in color of the papers but one was taken in a darker room so it looks pink and the other in the light and it looks purple)
It is the same paper though so not to worry.

2. Using your favourite distresser tool, distress the edges of the purple paper. I used my Zutter Distrezz-it-all but any tool will work.

3. Take the brown paper from the kit and cut an inch out of 2 of the sides, one from the top and one from the right (or left).

4.  Then distress its edges and place over the purple paper.

 5. Distress the circle's edges too and place it in the middle of the page

6. Layer the photo over 2 pieces of packaging paper. I used leftover packaging from Prima and Melissa Francis embellishments that came in the kit.

7. To accent and match the photo I used my own photograph of the pink flowers and cut out the flowers into pieces.

8. I took a couple of chipboard branches out of my stash and covered them in Fiber Paste. (you may use any type of branches or flourishes as an accent for this piece)

9. Then I sprayed them in green Adirondack ink by Ranger.

10. I took the 2 craft sticks and covered them in Tim Holtz Distress stain: Picket Fence

11. Once dry,  using the alpha from the kit, I added the title on top of the sticks.

12. Finally I arranged the layout and added flowers, buttons, pearls, window frame and other embellishments all together together.

Keren's July Kit Creations

I'm here to show you my creations in detail.
I've included some close-up pictures for your enjoyment

In my first layout I used a lot of mixed media techniques. I love this photo of my daughter feeding the ducks and I wanted it to look natural/organic. These papers from the kit are perfect for this look.
I bought some fake pussy-willow branches from the dollar store and used the Organic chippie that came in the kit. All contents are from the kit except the branches and the fence.

My second layout is more Shabby chic romantic. I used the purple-blue tones from the Organic line and made a layout about my sisters. I used lots of lace, punches and even used cheese cloth to give it these soft feel. I painted the craft sticks white and then added my title on top.

Finally my third layout has a lot of distressing and I even used one of the Prima flower packaging. This is a picture of my daughter smelling the roses. Stay tune for a tutorial on how I made this layout

I hope you enjoyed my creations. If you would like to see more of my work please come visit me at:  http://kerentamir.blogspot.ca/
