Introducing our Featured June Guest Designer, Zoe Nemburt

ScrapThat! has a talented Guest Designer
to inspire you with her beautiful
work with our June Kit:

Zoe Nemburt

Hey, my name is Zoe Nemburt, and I am absolutely thrilled to be asked to design as a guest for ScrapThat! this month. I started scrapbooking in 2009 and seriously never looked back. I felt I had finally found my crafty passion!! I have always dabbled in something crafty. I live in the province of Nova Scotia with my Husband, three children, and chocolate Labrador, Bailey, whom accompanies me on my 6km walks every day.

This year I haven't been seen much in the crafting world… I'm still here but currently working on a bigger page, my 3000 sq. ft. home which we purchased last year is going through a big change so most of my creative energy is currently going into renovating. I have designed for a couple of Manufacturers in the past, Pebbles, My Little Shoebox, Tattered Angels, Harmonie and My little bit of Whimsy. I have also been published in Canadian Scrapbooker, Scrapbooks and Cards Today and also a Russian Magazine too, I couldn't tell you the name I don't speak russian unfortunately :).

My biggest achievement of the year was taking part in a 5km Colour Run with my oldest daughter to raise money for new school equipment. It felt so amazing to do something like this. :)

Super Excited to be here for the month of June with the ScrapThat! team and I really hope to inspire you to create something fabulous.

Scrap That! Layout of the Week! ~ Come Out and Play ~

Okay, guilty as charged! Sandi here today with a big confession! I had soooo much fun perusing the gallery that I got carried away and went back a "teensy" bit more than a week! How I wish I could pick multiple winners! I mean, seriously! Have you seen all the gorgeous-ness in our gallery? If you haven't, then I highly recommend that you pay a little visit!

But ... I stopped dead in my tracks at Kathleen White's "Come Out and Play!" I think you will too! If you haven't seen it, here it is:

This one has it all! Gorgeous colors, tons of layers, fussy cutting, brick work, adorable photo and oh my goodness .. a banner made of hearts! Is that not cute, cute, cute?! I think I even see a wisp of tulle. This layout just shouts "Spring/Summer, does it not?!"

So, Kathleen, step up and take a bow! You've earned a proud "Layout of the Week!"

You know the drill, send me a private message for the html code for the blog blinkie, not to mention that you are able to take 10% off kits from 2012 including the separate add-ons! Big congrats!

Featured Anniversary Kit Projects by Tracey S.

It's Tracey S. here to share my May Anniversary Kit Creations. This kit has such gorgeous papers and coordinating embellishments.

First up is "It's All Good" featuring an engagement photo of our daughter, Elizabeth, and Andrew.

"It's All Good"
MK, EAO, FAO

I wanted to give this page an organic feel, picking up on the stone wall and flowing water in the background of this sweet photo.

Close-Ups
Here you can see the brick stamping that looks like that stone wall and one of the gorgeous EAO Prima butterflies and flourish for the butterfly trail. I also fussy cut a portion of the MK transparency overlay to tuck into the corner over the bricks.

I brushed the MK Smooch Accents onto the gorgeous FAO Prima focal flower to lighten it up a little. Around it I tucked in some of the MK rosettes, a FAO vine, and these sweet Embossed Vellum Flowers I created with the MK vellum sheet. My tutorial for the vellum flowers can be found here. I pulled apart a piece of the burlap ribbon and nested it under the cluster. I applied a coat of matte Mod Podge to hold the fibers in place.

This photo shows another of the sweet Prima butterflies and the wood grain stenciled molding paste. A piece of the EAO fabric tape can be seen under the photo.

Next I have a page featuring Elizabeth and Andrew dancing together during their wedding reception.

"First Dance"
MK, EAO, FAO
This first dance as a married couple is so sweet, and the soft colors of Prima Divine are just perfect to showcase this lovely memory. This page goes with our May DT Challenge, 'It's a "Banner" Month!' For details about this challenge and to add your banner projects, go here.

This larger Prima focal flower is from the FAO kit along with handcrafted rolled flowers created with Donna Salazar Bitty Blossoms dies and inked kit cardstock along with some of my Embossed Vellum Flowers. The tutorial for the embossed flowers can be found here. I used a Prima stencil and molding paste to create the overlapping circle background design.

This Beautiful Prima flower is from the EAO Kit and the lovely pink rose is in the Main Kit along with more of my Bitty Blossoms flowers and the lovely Prima flourishes from the Main Kit. The edges are distressed with my Donna Salazar Distrezz-It-All.

A little cluster in the bottom corner with the EAO Kit Prima Butterfly, little punched daisies accented with the Main Kit Glossy Accents, and another of my Embossed Vellum Flowers. The edges are distressed with my Donna Salazar Distrezz-It-All.
Our daughter, Maria, had the opportunity to be in her high school performance of "The Music Man" last year. She's the one in blue with the large flowered hat.

"The Music Man"
MK

I used the Main Kit only for this page and based it on Amy's gorgeous "Spring into May" Sketch. For details on her sketch challenge and to add your project go here.

This close-up shows a blend of handcrafted Bitty Blossom and Embossed Vellum Flowers, textured leaves, and sweet pink kit rose, fussy cut doilies, nests of dyed kit fibers and the blue lace strip is also created from the Main Kit vellum. All of these handcrafted items are created with kit supplies along with my dies and inks. The crochet doily is from my stash.

These gorgeous butterflies are included in the Main Kit. They are white and there is no limit to how they can be colored. Here I used Distress Ink to layer the blues and oranges and used the kit pearls to form the bodies. The kit Prima flourishes make the sweetest butterfly trails. I also added some small rhinestones from my stash for some extra bling. I splattered and dropped mist on the background.

Larger photos and more details can be found on my blog, Garden of Grace.

Thanks for taking the time to view these May Anniversary Kit projects with me today!

The May Kit is currently available for sale in our
ScrapThat! Store.

Fussy-cut Doily Rolled Rose Tutorial

Hi there! Sarah here with a quick and easy flower tutorial.

Materials Required:
Patterned Paper with doily print (can use any paper with larger circle pattern)
Fussy-cutting scissors (not pictured)
Scallop scissors
White craft glue
Pearl beads
1. Fussy-Cut Doilies from Patterned Paper.
2. Using scallop scissors, cut doily shapes into a spiral.
4. Starting at the outside edge, roll the spiral in on itself - you can use a paper piercer/paintbrush/quilling tool for this, but I just used my fingers. The tighter you roll, the smaller your rose.
5. Glue the rolled rose to the centre of the doily.
6. Glue a pearl bead inside the centre of the rose.
That's it - a really simple rolled rose using the doily patterned paper included in the May Anniversary Kit! Here is the layout I used these roses on!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today - hope you'll give these flowers a try!

Stretching your kit embellies tutorial by Amarilys

Amarilys here and today I want to quickly share with you how to stretch those flower embellies in your kit! So, let's get started!

Supplies:
  • IAR white/pink roses
  • peach pearls
  • adhesive of your choice
Step 1. Start with one of the IAR rose included in your kit.

Step 2. Carefully, start breaking up your rose into single layers. The first 3 layers will come off easily but the last one is a bit tricky. Take your time so that you don't break it. remember that they are made out of paper! :)

Step 3. You will end up with four single layer flowers and a green stem.

Step 4. Layer two of the blooms together, staggering the petals abd cut the green part in half.

Step 5. Adhere the green leaves under the flowers.

Step 6. Add a large pearl included in your kit as the flower center. You now have two flowers out of the one bulky rose.

I did this with all of my roses included in the kit and ended up with more than enough to make my layouts! I hope that you give this a try and keep it in mind for future kits!

Here's one of my projects using the main kit only:

Thanks for stopping! I hope that you are inspired to make something with this amazing kit! If you want to see more of my creations, please stop by my blog.

***The May Kit is available for purchase in the ScrapThat! Store.

Gabrielle Pollaco Featured GD Projects

Hi, It's me, Gabrielle Pollacco, here with you today to share my projects created with the gorgeous goodies in the
ScrapThat! Anniversary Kit!

 Here is my first layout:

"Joy"
I went with the basic design of Amarilys's sketch design but changed out the circle design for (yep! you guessed it! lol!) a heart!  I was inspired by a little project I recently saw by Ingvild Bolme, she had created these cute little bubbles using an art medium (a puffy paint)....but I thought I'd imitate the look using some bubble wrap!  I simply stuck down the bubble wrap onto the page and then gave it a coat of white gesso.  It is really hard to make paint adhere to plastic surfaces but the gesso allows other paints and tints to adhere to the plastic.  I then gave the bubble wrap some dabs of black paint.  When that dried I added spritzes of a rose color tint (Tim Holtz Pink Sherbert alcohol ink in a little spray bottle).  When that dried I lightly brushed on white paint so that it would only hit the raised surfaces of the bubbles.  Here is a closer view....

I used some oil pastels (I got them very inexpensively at my local dollar store!), I used some black and a pink and brushed a few random lines around the outside of the heart to make it stand out more from the page.  ......The blooms?....well they are a little creation I came up with using a fun piece of velum in the kit!  You can find the fun little tutorial here

"Joie de Vie"
This is one of my favourite papers in the kit!  I love the playful dancing girl image on that Prima paper!  I scrapped a photo of my youngest daughter Meagan, when we were on a forest walk a couple years back.  Joie de vie means 'Joy of Life' in French, I thought the title fitting :)  Here are a couple of close-up pic's....

"Happy"
I used a Coordinations white washed cardstock paper from the kit as a base for this page.  I then did a little bit of masking with a new clock mask I had recently bought by The Crafters Workshop.  I had shared a post on my blog a little while ago on how to make your own Texture Paste Medium (in the right column of my blog).....this texture paste was more of a rough texture paste.  BUT I have a new recipe to share, this texture paste is more delicate and great for finer detailing.  I will be sharing my recipe for this on a blog post I'm doing on Saturday, so be sure to pop back in again for a looksee!  Here are some close-ups of the page embellishments and the mask work I did....
