Now, a kit just wouldn't be complete without a fabulous sketch to go along with it!  We are very fortunate to have one of the best sketch artists in the biz - "LG" Belarmino.  We think she has really outdone herself this month and the sketch coordinates so beautifully with the soft romantic feel of this kit.

BUT WAIT!!  Before you leave we would like to share this tutorial from our guest designer Gabrielle Pollacco.  Each and every one of Scrap That!'s Main Kits include a coveted piece of Dusty Attic.  Gabi has shared a great technique on how to add:

"A Shabby-Chic Finish for your Dusty Attic Chippies"

I love to add an aged crackle finish to my Dusty Attic Pieces and one of my favourite pieces to add this to is the dress forms.  On one of my layouts for my guest spot this month I used this Shabby-Chic finish, so I thought I'd share a quick little step by step on how to achieve this design.

Supplies you will need:
~ Dusty Attic Chipboard piece
~ White craft paint
~ Brown chalk ink
~ Black Solvent Ink (Like Stazon....it must be solvent ink so that the stamped images don't blur when you apply the crackle medium)
~ Random stamps (scripted or flourishy images work best)
~ Tim Holtz Rock Candy (crackle medium)
~ Perfect Pearls paint (in the kit)
Step 1
Give your DA chippie a coat of white paint, reapply another coat when the first one is dry.
Step 2
Edge your whole piece with some soft brown chalk ink (like Colorbox Chestnut or Sudio G brown chalk ink)
Step 3
Randomly stamp on your script and flourish stamps, going off the edges of the piece.  (Be sure to use a solvent ink like Stazon if you are going to add the crackle finish)

Step 4
Apply crackle medium in a nice thick layer.  Note:  Try not to brush over and over on the same spot, it will make the crackles smaller.....also remember the thicker the layer the thicker the cracks will be.  Don't worry if some areas are thicker than others, all that will mean is that you will have some smaller and some larger crackles but the end result is quite lovely and natural in appearance.
Step 5
You can dress-up the dress form with a few drops of the Perfect Pearls ....I created a necklace and a belt for mine.....Here is a pic of the finished piece.

Here is my finished page with the dress form embellishment...
We hope you have enjoyed this wonderful tutorial and we'd like to give a huge thank you to Gabi for taking the time to share this with us!
NOW GET OUT YOUR PEN AND WRITE DOWN THE WORD “SCRAP”.
Next, head over to Darien’s Blog.  Happy Hopping!

Tutorial for creating a layout, borders and Rose Bloom...with the "Somewhere in Time" August Kit

Hello Everyone!  Today I'm here to share the very simple process I have used in putting together a negative space layout with your August kit....or my version of negative space:)  I have always been challenged with negative space.

For this layout I will show the simple steps I have used to add embellishments to my page using the corrugated Kraft Paper included in the kit. I have created a punched border, a rose bloom and punched butterflies. I have also used a bit of the burlap for some small accents.

To begin I chose a sheet of patterned paper and knew I would use 3 photos for my page. Next I decided where I would place my photos. I then cut a  layer of paper and strip of paper for placing my photos on.
(1) Choose paper
(2) Gather photos/decide on placement
(3) Cut a layer to place your photos on
Using one of my punches I punched a strip out of the Corrugated Kraft paper for a boarder underneath my photos.

Next I cut another strip of paper adhered it to the boarder where I will place my photos, and accented the boarder with some distress paint.Distressing the papers as I go.
I have cut a couple of pieces from the punched strip to layer the boarder

Here is what the page looks like
How I created the Rose Bloom...  **NOTE** This is just one my versions of using this Tattered Floral Die Cut. I have made up a Water Distressed Rose Bloom awhile back using this die, and I'm certain there are many tutorials using this die.

Distressed Rose Bloom using Corrugated Kraft Paper
Cut 2 layers of petals with the Corrugated paper and 2 layers with the patterned paper. Using scissors I roughed up the edges of all the petals a bit. Start layering your flower Corrugated paper first then patterned paper.Continue to build your flower glue the very center down of each layer stacking the layers.
I snipped the petals for the top layer to bend it easier
Here's what you will have
Now using the smallest layers make your center for the bloom
Adhere the small center inside. Here I have just pushed up the small petals and pushed them together forming a bud.
Added some punched butterflies
From the burlap I just snipped out some leaf shapes. And pulled some string to tie on my boarder.

Finally adding my title

Hope you enjoy creating using your Corrugated Kraft Paper and the "Somewhere in Time" Kit!!
Happy Scrapping:)

Lover's Rose Mini Album Kit

We have had this gorgeous mini album in the works for awhile.  This album was actually born by mistake.  An ordering mistake that is.  We found ourselves with way too much of the Graphic 45 Le Romantique papers and didn't know what to do with them.
We approached Tara Orr to design a mini album,  and fortunately for all of us she agreed! Tara designed this exquisite mini album kit exclusively for Scrap That!
We proudly present the "Lover's Rose" Mini Album Kit.

Graphic 45 products are beautiful rich and have a wonderful vintage look.  The Le Romantique Collection is nothing if not Romantic.

Tara's style of creating very dimensional projects is the technique of layering. She loves to scour thrift shops an second hand stores for the doilies that she uses in so many of her projects.  Tara has also used the burlap included in the kit for her cover page which gives lovely texture.

Here she fussy cut some of the roses out of the Le Romantique patterned paper.

Tara painted the cream colored roses included in the kit a shade of peach to coordinate with the beautiful peach tones in the papers.

For this page - Tara created a pocket in which she inserted a handmade envelope.
Within the envelope could be a keepsake, poem or photo.

This is the front of the envelope.  Tara used a faux stitching technique by using a paper piercer to create holes, and a white pen to create the stitches.

To create the scallop shape on the back of the envelope, Tara simply used a Maya Road Kraft envelope as a stencil and punched out the holes.  The flap can be any shape, and you can personalize the closure by using buttons, brads or the embellishment of your choice.  Here Tara used Stampin' Up - Create a Brad to create her closure.

Here is the envelope with a keepsake photo inside.

Tara loves to "work outside the lines".  You will see on all of her pages that papers and embellishments often extend past the edge of the album.  Don't be afraid to give this a try!

More fussy cutting.

Layers, layers, layers!

You can ink the edges of your photo to give a slightly distressed and aged look.

The base of this page begins with a doily followed by punched and pleated paper around the edge of the album.  Tara does a lot of distressing in her projects.  She used the Making Memories edge scraper to distress the edges of her patterned paper.  More fussy cutting and layering on this page using flowers and chipboard in the kit.

The exquisite organza flowers in the kit come all the way from one of our ETSY suppliers in Turkey!  They are beautifully unique and hand made. Ayse has many beautiful items in her shop - it's worth a visit.

We hope you have enjoyed our presentation!  This kit should be on sale on our website in the next day.  If you would like to order a kit in the meantime, email: customerservice@scrapthat.ca

Until Next Time,
Scrap That!
