Flower tutorial by Amarilys

Amarilys here today sharing with you a new flower tutorial!

As many of you know, I love to make my own flowers and when I received this kit I knew I wanted to work on a new one!

Supplies:

*Not photographed: cardstock, 8 petal daisy die cut, dry clear adhesive, pop dots

So, let's get started!


Step 1. Stamp and die cut two of each of the largest size of the posy patch flowers.


Step 2. Using any edger scissors, cut the edges of each petals and separate each petal from the flower.


Step 3. Using an embossing mat (or your mouse pad), shape your petals.


Step 4. Add each shaped petal unto an 8 petal flower die (I used a daisy) like shown above.


Step 5. You will have two 8 petal flowers when you finish and you will have a small gap in the center.


Step 6. Using a pop dot in the center of the large flower, layer the smaller one on top, staggering the petals.


Step 7. Add pearls to the center as shown to custom make your own floral center.


Step 8. Add Platinum stickles to the edges and let dry. You can then use your flowers for any project that you want!

ScrapThat July Creations by Amarilys Doria

Amarilys here today sharing with you the projects that I made with the July Kit "Summer in my Garden". I managed to make 3 layouts, a card and a tag!

This is my first layout:

I used the Main Kit and the Embellishment add-on for this layout. The doily, which I glimmer misted in brown, is from my stash. For this layout, I went with a blue/brown color palette. I water distressed the background pattern paper and layer it over a punched white cardstock (from my stash) and over another blue pattern paper which I mounted unto a brown cardstock (from my stash as well). I did some more die cutting and stamping on this layout too. The picture is from this year's Valentine's Day, which we celebrated the day after because my hubby worked, hence the blue/brown color combo instead of the red/pink traditional Valentine's Day colors.

My next layout is based on my sketch for the July Crop which you can find here.

I used the Main Kit for this layout only (no embellie add-ons or flowers add-ons) and did not add anything from my stash. I went crazy with punches and the lace for this layout! It's a picture of my hubby and I earlier this year during our 3rd anniversary. I did a lot of stamping and die cutting and I handmade my own flowers. Come back tomorrow for a tutorial on how to make the large flower.

This layout is based on my sketch for Scrap That! July Kit which I followed almost completely. I used the Main Kit and the Embellishment add-on for this layout. The doily, which I glimmer misted in brown, is from my stash. I took these pictures of these wild deer in a National Park here in Orlando, FL last year. They were so amazing to watch!

My next project is a birthday card for my mom:

I used the Main Kit and the Embellishment add-on for this card. I had so much fun working on this birthday card for my mom's 45th birthday! I added some die cuts and some stamped images and even made a little banner using the clothespins-she loved it!

July Challenge ~ Alter your chipboard!

Hello, everyone! I'm Sandi C and I am hosting this month's DT challenge! I love to alter and use chipboard on my layouts and I thought this would be a great challenge for the month of July. You will have 2 weeks to play. The challenge ends on July 30th and a winner will be posted July 31st. Here is the link to the Challenge

On my sample, I have used Gesso to paint the chippy and then used Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glam on this piece. DT member Alissa Wells has a great video tutorial posted HERE showing how she altered some chipboard.

If you don't have any chipboard, then trying cutting some shapes from  thin cardboard such as a cereal box. Then alter it to you heart's content and use on a LO, card, tag, ATC or altered item.

There are of course a few rules:

~Your project has to be new for this challenge and posted here in this thread as well as uploaded to the gallery. We'd love to hear how you altered yours but that is not required. 

~ Winner will be chosen by Random.org and posted here in this thread on the 31st. 

~ Have fun!

Circle layer tutorial

Hello!!  Marilyn here to show you how I made the lace layer for this page.
I cut the circle like the mat for my photos and used the negative of the cardstock to make the layers.  It's very simple and I will show you how....

Cut the circle.

Here the circle and the negative.

This is what we are going to use.

You can use any border puncher.

Start punching around the hole.

Then when your scissors cut straight...  

and punch again...

Continue doing this around the hole...

Try to position the puncher to make the design look even...

Doesn't need to be perfect but it needs to look good..

This is the result.  The circle mat and the lace circle layer.  Now it's your turn to experiment with this technique ..so have fun!!!

Marilyn- July kit Creations

Hi ladies!! Marilyn here to share my work with the Beautiful ScrapThat! July kit.

And here's my first page with the Beautiful Main Kit...

The main kit comes with this beautiful Zva flower, a variety of leaves, pearls and more flowers..you will love it!!!!

More details....

I punched and distressed the paper border with the old road chalk ink that comes in the kit and matched perfect with the papers tones.

My second page...

For my second page 
I used the embellishment and flower add-on.

I painted the (mist-able) flower 

I cut the butterflies from the FabScraps papers and painted the Organic chipboard with acrylic paint.

My third page is based in this beautiful sketch by Amarilis Doria.
