Awesome news............Scrap That is currently looking for a Sketch artist and a Video Coordinator to join our team.

Sketch Designer:

Design Team members receive:

1.       FREE PRODUCT - A full monthly kit plus the embellishment add-on kit, valued at well over $50 retail. 

2.       GENEROUS DISCOUNT - A 30% discount on all product purchases that will fit in the box with your kit to ship free of charge!

3.       FAME & GLORY - Your photo and bio on our Design Team page!

 What we ask of you:

-          A 6-month term beginning May 2012

-          Exclusivity to Scrap That!. Product manufacturer sites are fine, but we must be the only online store/kit club that you design for.

-          You must have a blog and Facebook account and update it regularly each week including posts about projects you’ve used from the kit, design tips etc. We ask that you also have links to our site on your blog and other sites where allowable.

-          Minimum of 3 projects created every month with the kit and 90% of each project must contain kit contents. 2 of these projects must be layouts and the third project of choice (lo, card, altered item).

-          Post your 3 kit designs plus an additional 2 projects of your choice (made with your stash) in our gallery every month as well as to one other large gallery site, either Scrapbook.com or TwoPeasinaBucket.com. Postings on these sites must include *Scrap That! Kit*  in the title line.

-           

·         Sketch needs to be ready by the first Monday of each month.     

·         Sketch Designer will also be responsible for creating the Sneak Peek Collage each month.  Sneak Peek must be ready to post on our sites and the Design Team blogs by the last Tuesday of the month.

·         Design projects must be well photographed, cropped and ready to be uploaded on our site (and your blog) the last Friday of the month.

·         Share a personal design tip or "secret" as per a rotating schedule for our blog and yours. It’s important to have the ability to display and teach different techniques.

·         Share a step-by-step tutorial (does not need to be your original idea, but would be nice) as per rotating schedule for our blog and yours.

·         Participation in our monthly blog hops and contests are required.

·         Community forum and gallery participation. This is quite possibly the most important thing! We have a terrific online community and our members are of the utmost importance to us, so this is huge!

·         Keep up-to-date on design and product trends in order to contribute products ideas to include in the monthly kit and ideas of how to generate more sales.

·         Submit your kit design work and sketches for publication when applicable to open calls. Where possible, credit must be given for projects created with our kits.

Shimmery Butterfly Tutorial

Hi everyone...hope you all enjoyed the Easter Break! Sandi here today to share a very simple tutorial on how I made the butterflies for the April Kit reveal.

 

Here is what the finished butterfly will look like. I managed to get a better picture today in the sunlight but it is still much prettier in real life!Here is what you will need:

1.Butterfly Images. I cut mine from Bo Bunny Country Garden Collection

2. Clear Micro beads. I got mine at the Dollar Store but I know Martha Stewart sells them and you can also get them on ebay. I need more!

3. Dimensional adhesive such as Glossy accents or Diamond Glaze

Step one: Cover the butterfly with a thin coat of adhesive so it looks like this

Step 2: Using something to catch the beads(I used a piece of paper) Sprinkle the beads over the butterfly until it is completely covered.

Step 3: Let dry or you may use a heat gun to speed up the process

This is the end result

I love how the color reflects through the beads. You can also just trace with the glue along the edges or on the wings if you want to create a pattern like I did here:

Either way gives beautiful sparkly results and you can also do this on flowers! Give it a try and I bet you will agree that pictures doesn't show how pretty they really are. Have a great week!

Layout of the Week-April 2nd

Hi everyone....Scrap That! is back in full force so we just had to bring back Layout of the Week. With all those gorgeous layouts being uploaded to the gallery again how could we not!!! We have made a few changes though.Every Monday we will choose a LOTW and at the end of the month, we will post all of the weekly layout winners and the members of Scrap That! will vote to choose their favorite.Lots of fun stuff in store for Scrap That!  I just LOVE how Sarah scrapped this beautiful wedding photo of herself. From the fabulous punchwork to the placement of the white flowers....perfection! I love the doilies,the dress form, the sparkly paper and all the wonderful layers. There are two hidden tags to the right that reveal how Sarah felt on her wedding day...beautiful words! My name is Jenifer Evans known on many scrap-booking sites as "Jennaroo!" I have 5 kiddos and am married to my high school sweetheart! We live in a small farming community... and honestly, there's not much to do besides scrap and chase my kids from one sporting event to the next! I have been seriously scrapping now for 2 1/2 years but started many years ago when my first child was born.  I scrapbook to preserve memories for children and theirs to come but I also scrap as a creative outlet for myself! My friends and family make fun of me because I see things differently than they do.  I am inspired by surroundings and often wonder how I can scrap them or incorporate them into my crafting somehow, whether it be something that would make a great title or something that could be altered or squeezed onto a layout. I would say I have more than one style of scrapping because I don't want to limit my creativity. My dominant style is shabby/pretty chic, but I've been known to produce grungy as well as clean and simple layouts once in a while. I pretty much go where the pictures and paper take me!

My name is Sandi Smith and I  live in Newfoundland, Canada with my husband and my two wonderful kids, ages 20 and 13. I am a SAHM but I am also a full time Business student through Distance Learning. I did my first layout in January, 2010 and was immediately hooked...I now wonder how people live without pretty papers, lace, flowers and ink stained hands . Scrap That! was the first site I joined when I started Scrapbooking and I am thrilled to be part of this AMAZING design team!

Keren Tamir

My name is Keren Tamir and I'm 37 years old. I am a wife to a wonderful husband who is very supportive of my scrapbooking hobby and a mother of two amazing kids; a 10 year old boy and a 5 years old girl. I've been scrapbooking for 8 years and I mainly scrapbook about my family. I love to create and experiment with many different mediums and techniques.
 I believe my style is shabby chic vintage with a hint of whimsy. I love designing with flowers, butterflies, doilies and lace. I scrapbook mainly layouts however I do love making mini-albums and just recently I began making different altered projects. Every once in a while I like getting a little grungy and distressing my pages with many paints, mists and inks. My style is always evolving and that’s one of the things I love about this hobby.
One of the main reasons why I started scrapbooking was to preserve memories and photos for my children and grandchildren. However in this past year, I’ve started to enjoy another aspect of scrapbooking. I love the artistic outlet that it gives me. It has become an obsession, a healthy addiction which helps me relax in life. I love it so much and I hope to scrapbook for many years to come!!

Layering 101

  

Hello everyone! 

It's Robin with a tip on layering.  I love using lots and lots of layers on my projects.  The trick is, not to go overboard.   I have been asked by many new scrapbookers about my layering process.  I don't really have process, but I will share how I began layering.

The easiest way to begin layering is to chose a specific paper collection.  Here, I have used the "Olde Curiosity Shoppe" collection from Graphic 45.  If you are just beginning to add layers and dimension to your projects, I find using a collection is a great help.  The papers all coordinate which makes it easier.  I love using circles, rectangles and squares behind my photos.  Simple matting also creates a dramatic effect without a lot of fuss.

Creating custom embellishments using coordinated collections also helps.  You can use your die cutting machines or templates you have to create one-of-a-kind embellishments which further add to your layers. 

Remember to have fun when you try new techniques. Practice makes perfect and you will be layering in no time!  Enjoy!

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a beautiful holiday.  This is Robin with a design tip for you.  Now is the time to scrap all of the gorgeous holiday photos you took of family and friends.  Why not create your own custom embellishments. 

The December Scrap That! kit contains gorgeous Pion Design papers.  I knew I wanted to create holly leaves using only the main kit.  It was just my luck that two of the patterned papers had a beautiful brown and green design.

I used my Tim Holtz Holly die to create the leaves, branches and berries.  It was quick and easy and made a huge impact on my design.  Don't have a holly die available?  You can simple search the internet for holly patterns that you can download and use as a stencil or print right onto your paper. 

Remember, it's fun to think outside the box when it comes to creating custom embellishments.
