ScrapThat! Kit October Creations by Amarilys Doria

Amarilys here today sharing with you the projects that I made with the October Kit "Tip Toe Through Fall".

My first layout is based on my sketch for ScrapThat! October Kit.

We also have our October Sketch Challenge Posted HERE.
Everyone is welcome to participate, all entries due by October 15th.

I titled this layout "Ring Bearer"

I used the Main Kit only for this layout. The bling swirl and large flower are from my stash. The pictures are of my brother-in-law, the ring bearer at my wedding, as he was walking down the aisle. I handmade the butterflies, leaves and title to match the rest of my wedding album.

Here are some close ups of this layout:

My second layout I titled "Flower Girl"and it's another wedding layout

I used the Main Kit and The Embellishment Add On for this layout. The bling swirl, white flowers and doily are from my stash. This layout is also based on the ScrapThat! October sketch but with a few modifications to make it unique but at the same time match the ring bearer's page since they go together in the album. Again, I handmade the butterflies, leaves and title to match the rest of my wedding album.

Here are some close ups of this layout:

For my last layout, I titled it "Family" and it's a picture of my mom, brother and I earlier this year on my mom's birthday.

For my last layout, I used the Main Kit and The Embellishment Add On as well. I handmade my own butterflies and leaves for this layout. HERE's a tutorial on how to alter the orange flowers in this month's EAO. This layout is based on the Prima September BAP sketch. I rotated the sketch 90 degrees to better fit my picture.

Here are some close ups of this layout:

Sandi C's October doily flower tutorial

Hello, everyone! Today I am sharing how I made a doily flower that I used on one of my September layouts. This tutorial was all ready to go last month ... but my team mates convinced me to share my shoe tutorial instead. So, better late than never!

As you can see I've started with a few 4 inch paper doilies. You can use 2 to 3 depending on how thick you want your flower to be.

Then you can spray or paint them any way that you desire. I only wanted a hint of color, so a few sprays with the Glimmer Mist was enough for my use. Let them dry a bit before you begin working with them because wet doilies are very fragile ... as are extremely dry ones.

Here, I've begun rolling my doily around the end of a very thin paintbrush. I actually held the doily in my right hand and the paintbrush in my left but since I had no one to help me take photos, this may look a bit backwards if you are right handed.

Next, I gave it a few more twists once I removed it from the paintbrush tip.

After getting the second flower layer made, I snipped the end off ...

.. then I inserted the first into the hole in the second.

I fluffed the flower out a bit, then snipped the tip off the middle flower and glued it to 1.5 inch circle with a quick dry glue. Or you could use a glue gun.

Your circle will not show so it does not have to be perfect but in this instance I just used a circle punch for convenience.

Lastly, you can decorate the center of your flower however you chose. Here I've simply placed a medium sized pearl in the middle. Isn't that pretty?

Here is what my September flower looked like when I used it on my layout. I added some green leaves, some dangles from a Prima flower and then mixed in a few small  roses on the side.

These are super easy to do and make a nice, delicate looking flower. I hope you'll give it a try!

Sandi Smith's October Creations

Hi everyone...Sandi S here today to share with you my layouts made with the very BEAUTIFUL October Kit.Here is what I created using Amy's beautiful sketch:
Made with Main Kit, EAO and FAO
And here is Amy's sketch:

You can join in our monthly sketch challenge here.
This is hubby and me at Rick's High School graduation back in 2009...definitely about time I scrapped this photo.I got a bit messy with this one. I created the branches and leaves using molding paste and a stencil. I the applied black glimmermist with my fingers and just smeared it across the branches. Using a Faber Castell Big pen in green, I colored in the leaves and smeared while still wet. I then used some Tim Holtz and MME stamps and did random stamping. The circle border was created by tracing a circle onto my paper and machine sewing along the traced edge. I made the gray roses from papers in the kit using this tutorial. Here are a few closeups:

My next layout is of my son Rick and his girlfriend on his Birthday this year.
Made using Main Kit, EAO and FAO.
The gorgeous pearl heart and swirl are from Flourish With A Bling. It is the Grace Pearl Flourish in Chocolate cut in sections to form a heart. I made more of the same roses from the papers, did some fussy cutting, stamping and misting.

And lastly...here is my sweet girl Claudine enjoying Smores.
Made with Main Kit,FAO and EAO
For this one I used a gorgeous sketch from Stuck on U Sketches .
Here is a closeup:
That's it for now. Thanks for dropping by and have a great weekend!!

Altered flower tutorial by Amarilys

Amarilys here and today I want to share with you a quick tip to alter any store bought flowers to match your layout.

I love the orange Petaloo blooms that are included in this month's Embellishment Add-On but I wanted a coordinating color to go with them and neutralize their bright color so I pulled out my Maya Road Mist (Espresso Brown).

Here's a step by step of what I did.

Supplies:
  • Orange flower from the EAO
  • Maya Road Mist (Espresso Brown)
  • Kaisercraft Brown Pearls from October Main Kit
  • Embossing Tool (optional)

Step 1. Pull apart the largest orange flower. It has 5 layers.

Step 2. Mist only three of the blooms, leaving the sheer layers the original color (orange).

Step 3. Let air dry or use your embossing tool to speed the process.

Step 4. Build your flowers back up. I decided to make two flowers out of the five layers to make it last longer. For the second flower, I used three brown pearls (included in the Main Kit) as the flower center.

Here's my finished layout:

I ended pulling apart another flower and misting that one too. It's such an easy and simple way to change the color of your blooms to match your layout.

Thanks for stopping! I hope that you are inspired to make something with this amazing kit! If you want to see more of my creations, please stop by my blog.
