The Results Are In!
We recently asked our lovely followers, members and subscribers to choose their favorite project from the Design Team creations using the "Love Notes" kit, to leave a comment on the Scrap That! blog, and then post about it on their own blogs.
It was so fun for us to visit all the member blogs and get to know our members better and look at some of their work!
We put all the names of people who left comments in a hat and randomly picked a name. (a very scientific process).
And the winner is ROBIN SHAKOOR!
Robin will receive the prize of a Scrap That! March Kit.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to review the DT work and post to their blogs. You will all have an opportunity to play along next month with the chance to win one of our gorgeous April Kits!

Meet Our New Guest Designers!
It was a VERY tough decision to make. We had so many wonderful applications from our Guest Designer call. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to send in an application. Whenever we put out a call, it is so humbling to see all the beautiful projects that are sent in!
Alas, there were only three spots available, and without further ado - let us present the three designers that were chosen along with a sample of their work. Be sure and stop by their blogs so you can get to know them better, and leave them some love!
My name is Melissa Vettorel. I have been married for 8 years and have 4 wonderful children. Kevin is 13, Troy is 10, Kyle is 9, and Alexis is 4. Yes, 3 rambunctious boys and a little princess, they are my true inspiration. My husbands in the Air Force so we move around every few years. We've been to Illinois, Guam, and now we've started a new adventure in Alaska. Alaska is gorgeous and I love it. Where else are you going to get such beautiful snow pictures? I was introduced to scrapbooking in 2007 by a friend and I haven't stopped since. My hobby has long since turned into a crazy obsession, I'm sure my husband would agree. Along with scrapbooking I love photography. I never realized my true passion for it until I started scrapbooking.
I am so excited to be a Guest Designer for Scrap That! and I'm honored to be working with such a talented Design Team.
Hi Everyone! My name is Tina Rutledge. We have recently moved to the sunny state of Florida. I'm from Chicago, IL. and have lived there all my life, so I'm a city girl at heart. I have been married for 14 years to my wonderful and loving husband and we have 5 children. As a stay at home Mom, they definitely keep me busy, but are my inspiration. There are many things that inspire me and bring out my creativity. That is why I love scrapping! It allows me to challenge myself, bringing out the true expressions of my creative mind, in paper form. I also enjoy the positive energy it evokes.
My name is Robin Shakoor and paper crafting is my passion! I live in Virginia with my husband, daughter, one spoiled puppy and three birds. I am a Human Resources Manager by day and crafter by night. I have been an avid paper crafting enthusiast since February, 2008. While I enjoy all design styles, I would have to say that elegant, romantic and vintage are my favorites. I enjoy incorporating a blend of these three styles into my projects, creating a visual experience for my readers. I believe that crafting is a shared experience for both me and those who view my work. Just knowing that I am teaching others through tips, tricks and tutorials on my blog brings me joy. I like to encourage others to step out and try new things. I believe that crafting is a personal journey and the roads we take along the way are different and special.
Each of these talented ladies will design for a two month term between April and September 2011, starting with Tina.
At the end of the term we will have a contest and let our members and subscribers vote on which of the three Guest Designers will remain for the rest of 2011!
So keep track of your favorite projects because it will be up to you to determine who stays with the Scrap That!DT.

~February Water Mark Ink Tutorial~
Okay, so I loooove playing with ink of all colours...you can do so much with it! Stamp, blend, emboss...The possibilities are endless! But what ever in the world do you do with an ultra-slow-drying CLEAR Water Mark Ink???
It's actually just as fun as any other type of ink and possibly even more so! So I'm going to go through a quick technique you can achieve with your February Scrap That! water mark ink!
Here’s a list of materials:
1. Water Mark Ink
2. Clear Embossing powder
3. Heating Tool
4. Stamp
5. Spray, ink or other colour medium (I TA Mint Chocolate Chip Glimmer Mist)
6. Paint dabber, Maya Road Envelope (if you want to do the project I did)
Here we go!!!
STEP 1
Using the Adirondack White Paint Dabber, cover your Maya Road envelope
STEP 2
Once you have the envelope covered to your desired opacity, you can go ahead and stamp your image of choice using the Water Mark Ink. If you look really closely at the top right hand corner, you will see a 'watermark' impression. The ink will stay wet longer, so that way you can easily apply embossing powder without rushing. I used clear embossing powder as a way to 'set' the white underneath so that when I cover the project with another colour, these stamped and embossed images will resist that medium and remain white!
Apply a strip of paper and lace to the lower portion of the envelope for a decorative touch.
STEP 3
Spray with your choice of coloured mist, or blend in some distress ink. Whatever medium/colour you choose, you will see the colour only sticking to the surface that has not been embossed! Please note, because I painted the envelope first, the glimmer mist will not stick as well as it would to a regular piece of paper or cardstock. Give the mist a couple of seconds once you have sprayed it, and then gently wipe away the mist from the embossed designs. Repeat for a darker look.
FYI (I was going after a more distressed look so I chose to paint my envelope first...And I also think a white or light base works best to highlight the designs...So painting the Maya Road envelope white allowed me to spray with a lighter colour like this teal and still see the embossed design!)
Here's the finished envelope on a card I made!
Hope you have fun using the super awesome February technique medium! It will be included in all of the February Scrap That! Kits, so hurry up and get yours!!!
Many Hugs!!!
Ivana

Diamond Glaze
Scrap That!'s January "Don't Stop the Carnival" Kit includes Judikins Diamond Glaze. Our designer Janis (who totally rocked this kit) shares some tips/tutorials on how she used it on her kit projects.
1) Diamond Glaze on Stamped Image
Diamond Glaze can instantly give additional texture on your paper and embellishments. What I always love to do is to apply it on a stamped image to give it that epoxy sticker-look (looked up the official decription, it is clear glass-like finish!!!!). On my layout "Treasure these Moments" that you can see HERE, I stamped my ticket image on the cardstock included in the kit, cut it out and topped it off with the Diamond Glaze. Since the kit also includes Ranger Stickles in Xmas Red, I used the Stickles to outline my ticket for additional texture.

2) Diamond Glaze + Glitter Powder
Diamond Glaze can also act as an adhesive. I created handmade blooms in the same layout but wanted additional texture so I thought of sprinkling my flowers with glitter powder.
I applied Diamond Glaze on the edges of my petals and then sprinkled, errrr topped (as I think I have dropped too much glitter powder!!! LOL!!!) my flowers with glitter powder.
Just shake off the excess glitter powder and you'll have a handmade bloom with really beautiful grainy and glittery texture!!!!

3) Diamond Glaze + Pearl Powder + Watermark Stamp Pad on Chipboard
The kit includes a cute mannequin chipboard from Maya Road and I wanted to use it on my layout (you can see my layout "Charming Adorable" HERE). I thought if I can use Diamond Glaze on paper/cardstock, I sure can use it too on chipboard!
Since the mannequin chipboard was raw, I wanted a bit of color on it. Since I'm big on symmetry, I wanted another purple shade to match my flower on my layout. I inked the chipboard with my watermark stamp, dusted pearls over it, and then topped it with Diamond Glaze.

The Diamond Glaze makes my chipboard look more polished!!!
4) Diamond Glaze + Alcohol Ink
Want to have a tinted finish on your embellies? Try mixing alcohol ink with your Diamond Glaze! In a small container, I put a little amount of Diamond Glaze and a drop of Ranger Alcohol Ink (Eggplant shade). Since the Diamond Glaze is water-based, the ink dissolved fast. I topped my flower on my layout "Europe or Bust" which you can see HERE to make the purple shade more prominent.

Hope you like these little tutorial/tips that I shared with you. Have fun playing with Diamond Glaze!!!
