Laura's March Kit Reveal

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be sharing my very first creations with ScrapThat! Kits with you! This month we all got to work with an amazing company - Meg's Garden! Their papers have beautiful designs and a glossy finish, and wonderful colors.

My first layout I  made for my challenge to you all this month.....

"Sometimes"

I used the MK, EAO, PAO, FAO for this one!

I rolled the Filmstrip and tacked it with a little hot glue to add dimension. I also painted the chipboard butterfly with the smooch that is included in the kit, made some flowers with the cardstock and shredded the edges a bit.  To add some interest to the title I mixed my letter stickers

My next layout I did lots of fussy cutting.....these papers just begged to be fussy cut!  I used foam dots to add a little dimension and made a few more flowers!

'10 Little Toes'
I used the MK

and some of the details

My next layout is of my Godchildren....they are so sweet!  I cut the 'cherish' out one of the papers then adhered it under the chipboard scalloped circle that I had misted with pink. I also misted the gauze and kind of stuck it under and through the flowers to add some texture. I made a banner and tucked it up under the flowers.

'Cherish'
I used the MK for this one

and some of the details

On my last layout I used Amy's beautiful sketch!  I tucked some of the gauze under the distressed and torn paper, a doiley from my stash and the gauze between the flowers.

'Turning 2'
I used the MK, EAO, FAO, PAO

a close up of the flowers

Thank you all so much for stopping by!

Birthday Card Set Tutorial by Amarilys

Amarilys here and today I want to share with you a quick tutorial on how to make cards using your scraps after you are done working with your kit. I absolutely loved working with the March kit but I always end up with a pile of scraps that are too small to keep using on layouts. That's when making cards come in handy, plus everyone can use an extra card or two in their stash! Right before I put my kit content away, I always make a few cards (I don't always I post them online though) because, let's face it, after you put things away you don't want to take them out again!

Supplies:
  • ScrapThat! March Kit scraps
  • adhesive
  • sewing machine
  • doily die or 5" doilies

Step 1. Gather your scraps from the kit. As you see, I didn't have many 'scraps"! :)

Step 2. Make card bases with any leftover cardstock. I like to work with 5.5"x4.25" card bases.

Step 3. Trim your pattern paper to the same size and run them through the Distrezz-it-all tool.

Step 4. Fold and crinkle the corners to give them an aged feel.

Step 5. Machine stitch (or hand stitch if you prefer) each pattern paper layer alone and then adhere unto the card base.

Step 6. If you have a doily die, die cut two from leftover cardstock. If you don't, then use store purchased 5"  doilies.

Step 7. Fuzzy cut the birthday sentiments and adhere them unto the doily.

Step 8. Apply Aleene's Tack -It Over & Over adhesive all around the faux stitching on the sentiment circle and let it dry.

Step 9. After the adhesive dries, it will be temporary and will feel tacky to the touch. Add the cording included in this month's kit all around it.

Step 10. Add the doily and sentiment to the card base as shown. Now, you can add embellies to your cards!

Here are my finished birthday card set. Aren't those roses the sweetest?

I hope that you give these cards a try!

Thanks for stopping! I hope that you are inspired to make something with this amazing kit! If you want to see more of my creations, please stop by my blog.

Now on to more exciting news .. Scrap That! is excited to welcome our newest design team member and new Social Media Co-ordinator, Laura Gilhuly.

Here is a little about Laura:

"I am Laura (often know as AngelBear). I live in a small town in south-western Ontario with my family.  I am a stay at home mom to 2 fantastic and energetic little boys - Cody is 12 and Ty 11.  I am happily married for 13 years to my best friend and the most patient & handsome man on earth, Jon. He is so supportive of my hobby and never asks what I spent on supplies!  He drives long haul truck, and is only home on weekends, so I am kept pretty busy with two tweens.

I started scrapping years ago when my sister took me to a Creative Memories beginner class and I although I really enjoyed it I just wasn't a Creative Memories scrapper and soon struck out on my own. I found a few very helpful and friendly sites on the web and have been trying new things and learning ever since. I love to ink, tear, layer and distress my projects!  The dirtier the better.  I like to blog too which you can find at http://angelbearscraps.blogspot.com/ and you can see some of my layouts at scrapbook.com.  With my husband on the road, and two very active boys to keep me busy, I don't have a lot of time to myself to scrap so I make time! Every night after the kids go to bed.  I take out my supplies and try an do something scrapbooking oriented every day to give me some 'me' time. My family is the focus of my life, my inspiration, and my motivation to scrapbook. "

Welcome to the team, Laura!

~ That's it for today!  See you Friday! ~

Introducing our March Featured Guest Designer ~ Limor Webber

ScrapThat! is thrilled to introduce our
March Featured Guest Designer
The amazingly talented
~ Limor Webber ~

Limor is known for generously sharing her amazing mixed media techniques. Her YouTube Channel with all her fabulous videos can be found here. She designs for a number of companies including FabScraps, I Am Roses, Lindy's Stamp Gang, and guest designs for Faber-Castell.

I am a mother of two beautiful little girls Hannah 7 and Ava 8 as well as I am married to my amazingly supportive husband Curtis Webber.

I have been a crafter since I was little in all sorts of forms but became completely addicted to the scrapbooking world when my oldest daughter, Hannah, was born almost 8 years ago.  I am a total technique junky, and every opportunity I get to play with a new product I go for it. My style somehow always leans to the mixed media world since I love to experiment with texture and all sorts of mediums.  My passion is teaching others everything I learn and just watching  their faces when they discover something it new... simply magical to watch!

I've created a few designs for you as well as a step by step tutorial for you to enjoy!

Be sure to stop by Limor's blog,
to see some of her amazing work.

How I Did That.... by Sandi S.

Hi everyone..Sandi S here today to share a couple of "how to's" I used while creating with the beautiful ScrapThat! February Kit.

This kit included a beautiful Square doily. I misted the doily with Glimmer mist in shades of orange and pink. I then brought three of the corners towards the middle to make an envelope to tuck my picture into. I then added a bow to the middle.

I thought it was long overdue to do another layout of my boy so I tried to make a masculine twist on this feminine kit.
I used the blues from one of the papers and cut a few chevron shapes, did some misting with a Prima Gear mask.

I wanted this layout to have a grungy look so I did some crazy stitching, some stamping with bubble wrap and a number stamp. I also added some sewing thread and staples. The best thing about this type of layout is that there are no mistakes...if you do something you don't like, cover it up with some mists or even a blob of paint. The grungier the better!

That's it for me...Have a happy, scrappy weekend!

February kit creations,"With Love" with Tracey G.

Hi there! Tracey G. here!
Today I wanted to share my creations made with the gorgeous ScrapThat! February Kit, "With Love." I love Prima and this kit is so perfectly co-ordinated, it almosts scraps itself!

First up is my layout made using only the goodies in the Main Kit:

I started by fussy cutting out the center of the top layer and backing it with cardboard for depth. I wanted a shadowbox effect. I fussy cut postcards and flowers and finally added my daughter herself !

I received a Cuttlebug for Christmas and I am having so much fun with it! I made these butterflies with the Tim Holtz die and I have posted a tutorial on Feb 6 on how I created these with an antiqued look.

My next layout uses the Main kit and all the Add-Ons and  Amaryllis' February sketch:
I wanted to create a pinup board feel, with lots of goodies and mementos tucked away.
I searched for my eyelets-haven't used those little guys in awhile but was inspired by a LO in Scrap365. The ribbon is included in the Main Kit.

I water distressed the edges and tucked in cut away sections of the Main Kit's doily. I backed the entire eyeletted (is that a word?) section with cardboard to give it depth and make the foundation secures enough for the layers of items tucked in and hot glued in place.

How seriously darling are these angels from the Embellishment Add-on? I love how it almost
mimics my daughter's pose.
Using my Cuttlebug again, I embossed the Bare Basics hearts and the photo mat. Using Gold Rub n' Buff, I antiqued the highlighted areas for more dimension and a little shine ! The Kaisercraft wooden hearts were antiqued and hit with patina.

Now that I made these gloriously girly layouts, and used almost all my flowers up, I wanted to try for a neutral pallate.

I created the flowers and leaves using the cardstock from the main kit with  Sizzix dies and embossed all the Bare Basics hearts with different patterns. This was my first time using these products and I was impressed by the quality and versatility of them. The alpha and doily are from my stash. I gloriously gessoed and misted and had some inky fun with this one. The pic is my Hubs and I while we were still dating-10 years ago!

Thanks for checking out my layouts and hope you will take advantage of all the ways to use this gorgeous kit! Can't wait to see what you create!
